Job Copilot - Privacy Policy

Overview

Job Copilot is a Chrome extension that helps you fill out job applications. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe.

Data We Collect

Google account info: When you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and Google account ID from Google OAuth. This is used solely for authentication.

Resume data: When you upload a resume, it is sent to our server for parsing. The parsed profile (name, contact info, work history, education, skills) is returned to the extension and stored locally in your browser. We do not store your resume or parsed profile on our servers.

Application questions: When you use the AI fill feature, the custom questions from the job application and the job description are sent to our server to generate answers. These are not stored after the response is returned.

Data Storage

All of your personal data (profile, notes, corrections, preferences) is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. Our backend server is stateless and does not maintain a database of user information.

Third-Party Services

• Google OAuth: Used for sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (Claude AI): Application questions and your profile summary are sent to Anthropic's API to generate answers. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not send your raw resume to Anthropic for answer generation, only a structured summary.
• Sentry: We may collect anonymous error reports to improve the extension. No personally identifiable information is included.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not store your resume on our servers
• We do not store your profile or personal information on our servers
• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising
• We do not use your data for model training

Permissions

The extension requests the following browser permissions:

• storage: To save your profile and settings locally in your browser
• activeTab: To read and fill form fields on job application pages
• identity: To authenticate with Google sign-in
• debugger: To interact with certain dropdown components (React Select) that block standard input
• scripting: To inject form-filling scripts on supported ATS pages

The extension only runs on job application pages: Greenhouse (boards.greenhouse.io), Lever (jobs.lever.co), and Workday (*.myworkdayjobs.com).

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by signing out of the extension, which clears all locally stored data. You can also uninstall the extension, which removes all stored data from your browser.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
